Police in Kenya have captured the spouse of record-breaking marathon runner Agnes Tirop who was cut to death at her home.
Emmanuel Rotich, who was kept in the beach front city of Mombasa, will deal with indictments whenever examinations are finished, an authority said.
Ms Tirop, 25, was discovered dead on Wednesday in the western town of Iten, an instructional hub for top competitors.
She had completed fourth in the current year's Tokyo Olympic 5,000m last.
In 2019, she had won the 10,000m bronze at the 2019 World Athletics Championships.
Accolades have been pouring in for Ms Tirop from individual competitors.
"She was an astounding youngster who was truly endeavoring to be one of the top competitors on the planet," Julius Yego, Kenya's previous sports skipper, told the BBC World Service's Newsday program.
