A 22-year old man identified as Paa Kwao has received strokes of canes for abusing narcotic drugs at Enchie in the Aowin District of the Western North Region on Saturday,Reportghana.com has established.
The punishment which was carried out by some strong men on the orders of the Newly installed Paramount chief of Enchi Traditional Council Nana Beyoman Bumbui III, took place at the Chief’s palace.
Prior to the punishment, the victim was arrested and detained in the chief’s palace.
According to the elders of the palace who spoke to Reportghana.com, Paa Kwao defied the orders of the newly installed chief, hence the punishment.
They explained that Nana Beyoman Bumbui III made a decreed during his installation to sanction any youth who engages in any form of social vices.
This punishment, according to elders, will serve as a deterrent to others.
Meanwhile, Nana Beyoman Bumbui III is committed to fighting against the canker of social vices within his paramountcy.
Former Boss of Narcotics Control Board (NACOB), Akrasi Sarpong, has vehemently endorsed and defended the legalization of Marijuana (Wee).
Marijuana, also known as ‘cannabis’, ‘wee’ or Indian hemp’, is widely used in Ghana, despite being banned.
According to Mr. Sarpong, a “virtual legalization” of marijuana was already in place as the drug could be found in cosmetics and hair products used by women in the country.
“There are about 80% of people who smoke weed so why do people think those who smoke marijuana go mad.
