A group calling itself the Coalition of Concerned Members of NPP in Central Region has sent out a stern warning to the party executives in the region over their decision to suspend the Central Region Vice Chairman.
The group questioned the locus of the regional executives to take the said decision insisting that the issue exceeds their domain.
Ekow Ewusi, NPP Central Regional Vice Chairman, was allegedly suspended by the regional executive body on grounds of insubordination after he failed to heed to their directive to respond to a petition copied to them.
“This is a gross disrespect to the Regional Party which should not be entertained in anyway. It is on this basis of Mr. Ewusi’s continuous refusal to reply to the letter and total disregard for party directives that I have taken the decision to suspend you. You are therefore suspended indefinitely and referred you to the Regional Disciplinary Committee of the party to do further investigation on the petition”, the suspension letter signed by Chairman Kutin and copied the President, the National Chairman of the party, General Secretary of the party and the Regional Minister in part read.
One Edward Kraku Adum, petitioned the National Security Minister, President Akufo-Addo, the Party’s National Executive Council, British High Commission and other institutions alleging that Ekow Ewusi had perpetrated fraud by false pretense, jail break and auctioning and pocketing proceeds of excavators seized from illegal miners.
However the concerned members who thronged the party office on Thursday to demand the head of the regional chairman cast doubt over the identity of the said petitioner and accused the party chairman in the region, Robert Kutin Junior to be behind the allegations in a bid to destroy Ewusi’s chances of contesting him.
“We are left with no doubt than to think that Chairman Robert Kutin is behind all the petitions, allegations and publications and eventual baseless suspension of Hon Ekow Ewusi, Central Regional 1st Vice Chairman”
“We hereby sending a strong signal to the Regional Chairman, wherever he is, that he should refrain from all of this misguided and calculated efforts at Hon Ekow Ewusi and any other regional executive member, intended to run them down” they warned.
Below is the statement they released after addressing the media.
