A supposed suspension that was issued against a member of the Tema East Constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Ashitey Adjei, has been quashed.
A statement signed by Joseph Ade Coker, Greater Accra, Regional Chairman of the NDC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the regional executive committee dismissed the supposed freeze on the membership of the man affectionately called Moshake, pointing out that the action lacked a foundation in law and commonsense.
Moshake, a firebrand, became a target for the constituency executive of the Tema East Constituency because of his open support for Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, during the NDC’s Flagbearership contest last year.
Although the executive supposedly suspended Moshake, a known plain-talker held on to his stance as a nonconformist, he stood his grounds.
The constituency ececutive also linked Moshake to some stories in the media from News conferences held by some supporters of Bagbin, that chastised former President Mahama.
Even though Moshake denied involvement in those stories and actually showed evidence that he rather had given interviews advising against such attacks on the former President, the executives wrote a suspension letter and sent it to the Wulomo branch of the NDC and the media.
Moshake petitioned the regional executive over the decision to suspend him for being a Bagbin supporter.
While the regional executive were working on the issue however, the Tema East Constituency Secretary tried to prevent Moshake from voting in the NDC’s Congress to elect its National Officers at the Trade Fair in Accra last year, which sparked a confrontation that necisstatated the interventions of some NDC gurus to call the Police and EC Officials assist him to vote.
Moshake eventually voted, and voted again during the Presidential Primary in Tema East.
On Wednesday, Moshake , presented the official letter quashing his suspension to Edmund Nii Abo Quarcoo, alias Michelle, Deputy Secretary of the NDC in Tema East at the party’s office in Community One.
Mr. Abo Quarcoo, after receiving the letter, thanked him and said he would forward it to the party’s Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Mahama Bulisa, since he received the letter on the Chairman’s behalf.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on his reinstatement, he said "I have forgiven all my detractors because I am a man of God."
