About 100 Nigerian soldiers have been killed in militant attacks in recent days, Reuters news agency reports, quoting unnamed security sources.
The revelation comes after senate suspended its session on Thursday in honour of what it said were 44 dead soldiers after an attack in Metele in the northeastern state of Borno on Sunday.
The security sources said around 100 had died in that attack alone, though the death toll was not final. One said 96 had died in the northeast in recent days, mostly in the Metele attack, but also others.
Nigeria has been dogged by an Islamist conflict for over a decade, waged by Boko Haram. The war has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions others.
Crushing the Terror group was one of the campaign pledges of President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of his election in 2015.
